Like many Cafepress shopkeepers, I am always on the lookout for royalty free graphics and elements that I can use in my designs. When I first began my foray into the t-shirt design business, I sometimes felt that I was “cheating” by not drawing everything myself from scratch. But I soon came to realize that there is no shame in using pre-made graphics as elements in a design. That’s what I consider to be the difference between an artist and a designer. That doesn’t mean I just go to Clipart.com and download graphics and slap them on a shirt. But incorporating other graphics into my designs allows me to work faster and be more productive, rather than spending four hours on one design.
The Bittbox website is one I found that offers tips on Photoshop & Illustrator, and also downloads of free vector elements. They are free to use in commercial design projects, as long as you do not sell the designs themselves or upload them to any stock sites.
Enjoy!
