Zazzle the Clear Winner in Dark Shirt Printing

February 21st, 2008 · 5 Comments

I recieved my final test shirt from Printfection yesterday. On the upside, the white outline is much less noticeable then on the shirts from Cafepress and Zazzle. On the downside, the color is slightly duller than the Cafepress shirt, and nowhere near the clean and crisp saturated print from Zazzle.

Close up on Printfrection

I have to admit I was expecting better from Printfection. After seeing a lot of ex-Cafepress shopkeepers raving about the quality of Printfection, I was expecting a huge difference. I would rate the PF shirt as slightly worse than CP’s. That could be due to improvement on CP’s side too.

Zazzle has blown them both out of the water though. The color reproduction is much closer to my original image, and the print is very smooth and clean looking. So, I will get up a scan of the shirt from Printfection, and some high res scans of all four shirts together along with my original image for comparison. Then it’s on to Round Two: The Washing Machine.

[...] As you know, a while ago I ordered a black shirt printed with my “geek” design from each of the four main print on demand companies. Cafepress, SpreadShirt, Zazzle, and Printfection. I was surprised to see Zazzle come out on top and slightly disappointed that the shirt from Printfection was not as good as I thought it would be. For the other review posts see here, here and here. [...] Either way, I’ll be leaving CafePress. I’ve requested a refund and ordered shirts from Zazzle, which was the recommended on this site: http://www.podentrepreneur.com/2008/02/21/zazzle-the-clear-winner-in-dark-shirt-printing/ [...]

Enjoying your blog! Curious if, on Zazzle, you uploaded your image as a png file or a jpg and checked the box to make white areas disappear? That might be the reason for the white line. I just check one of my Carpe Litum t-shirts which are bright on black as your design is and don’t notice a white line. However, mine has been washed a few times. . .
