The recession seems to have finally arrived in my corner of the world. Brother in law #1 has been working on a masters degree, and in the program had been working on a project with the company he hoped to find employment with. He had a first interview with the company and it went well. Second interview was scheduled. Only a few days before the second interview and hiring freeze was announced, all interviews canceled and job offers rescinded. Brother in law #2 just bought a house in November, and was laid off yesterday. And I can’t deny it any longer, my sales are down 50-60% from January 2008.

So why am I telling you all this? Not because I’m upset, I like a good challenge. But the fact is that Cafepress pays my bills, and I need to make up for that loss. So I’ve decided to expand this blog to include all of my online money making adventures. More affiliate marketing, ebay, Etsy, and I even signed up for elance yesterday to see what that’s all about. I figure more people will be searching the interwebs trying to find ways to earn extra money, so I might as well share my experiences and knowledge.

I enjoyed reading your progress and status about your cafepress shop and others. I feel so slow…..you’ve been doing this since 2004 and my daughter and I just came up with our product idea. Thanks for the information, You’re Bookmarked!

Hey! I signed up with cafepress and zazzle about two years ago but did not really get serious about it. But now, I’m thinking of trying my luck selling personalized shirts and run it alongside with my web hosting business. I am not a professional graphic artist, just love expressing my thoughts. Reading your posts has inspired me to do more in my business. It’s very true then, not to put all eggs in one basket and in times like this, diversification can help.
