I’ve had several questions already about using Wordpress as a way to easily set up your own website without too much html and without using CPShop.
So I’m going to create a tutorial and walkthrough from the beginning as I set up my new affiliate store at ShirtsofDoom.com. This particular site will be a Zazzle affiliate store, which is even a bit easier to set up than a Cafepress store, simply because Zazzle gives you all the links with images containing your referral code (as long as you are signed up within Zazzle for referrals.)
Step #1
Installing Wordpress. (Naturally, you must have web hosting on your own domain.) I use Dreamhost, which offers a One Click Install of Wordpress, so it’s fairly simple to set up. I simply choose Wordpress in the list and choose which of my domains I want it installed to (shirtsofdoom in this case). Wordpress can be installed to any directory, such as shirtsofdoom.com/store, but since I have nothing on this domain yet, I’m just leaving it in the root directory.
Step #2
Within a few minutes of using the One Click Install you should receive and email telling you that Wordpress has been set up. Click on the link and you will come to a screen like this:

Enter the title of your shop and your email address, and make sure you tick the box to allow your blog to appear in search engines. Then click “Install Wordpress”
Step #3
The next screen you see should say that Wordpress has been successfully installed, and it will give you a login ID (usually “admin”) and a randomly generated password. Make sure you copy or write down the password before heading to the next screen. You will need it to log in.
Step #4
Log in with your login ID and password. You are now at the Wordpress Dashboard. At the top you should see that Wordpress knows you have logged in with the random password, and it’s probably a good idea to go to your profile page and change it to something you can remember.
Now you have the famework of your shop set up, and it should look something like this:
