Now we have a very bare bones shop set up. As I mentioned before, there are numerous free Wordpress themes available, and you might want to spend some time looking through them so see what would work best for you. If you don’t want to bother with installing a new theme, there are 30-40 that come installed with Wordpress, and can be switched at will. Update: Apparently it depends on your web host if more than a few themes come pre-installed. Read more about it here.

I decided to go with the Vigilance theme. It’s pretty easy to customize and there’s a handy little box at the top where you can use your own code or image(s). I put a Cafepress affiliate banner there for now. I also uploaded my own banner changed the background color and a few font colors.

Before we start adding products, there’s a couple plugins to install. First is Akismet, which will help protect you from spam comments. You’ll have to register at Wordpress and get an API key to activate it.

The second is the Raw html plugin. On the left side of the Wordpress dashboard, under the plugins tab, click on “Add New”, and then type “html” in the search box. That brings up a list of html plugins. I use the one called “Raw HTML”. Just takes a few clicks to install, and then we are all set to begin adding products.

I think that there are only two themes that come installed with Wordpress. (Default and Classic?) Of course your host’s one click install add other themes and plugins. I wrote about it in this post: http://www.cafetemplates.com/2.....what-next/
