It looks like the Christmas shopping has begun in POD land, at least for me anyway. October was a bit slower than September, but that is usually the case for me. November has started off great. Fourteen items sold yesterday on Cafepress, and one was a shop sale. In fact, I’ve made FOUR shop sales this month so far. Woohoo! Helps a little bit with my otherwise piddly commissions. 28 sales at Zazzle so far this month, so things are definitely improving there and I am nearing Proseller status.

I’ve decided to concentrate more on coordinated lines of paper products at Zazzle, since from reading the forums those seem to be decent sellers. If you’re not aware, Zazzle allows you to design letterhead, stationary, invitations, flyers, rack cards and photo cards, along with the standard greeting cards, note cards, postcards, stamps, business cards, posters and prints. Binders are a new item, and I heard a rumor that envelopes may be next.

The cool thing about this stuff is that you don’t have to use this stuff for its intended purpose. Some sellers are very creative in coming up with other uses for these products.

This seller is using the Zazzle prints to create pre-made scrapbook pages. The buyer can upload their own photo and customized the text.

Others have used the business cards (which are available in different sizes) to create gift tags.

Stickers can be used as gift tags as well.

Another seller has accessories for RPG gamers; making battle maps out of posters and using the cards to create game tokens that can be cut out.

Some very creative stuff, and the possibilities are endless if you think outside the box a little bit. I’ve already come up with a few cool ideas with for my niche, and they never would have been possible at Cafepress.
